Jesse Lingard has been heavily criticized and trolled, by football fans all over the world. All was not so bad a couple of years ago when he used to star for former manager Mourinho. Lingard always used to score when you least expected him to and turned it up a notch, in crucial games.
Lingard was loved by United fans three years back when he was scoring bangers day-in and day-out for the club. Adding to his goals were his swagger and the fact that he was a Manchester United academy graduate. Lingard had the world at his feet and was one of the go-to men in the United side under Mourinho.
But alas, all that potential has crashed down as Lingard has scored only 7 goals in the last two seasons. He has been at his worst this season, with no goals in the Premier League with 20 appearances. With such a dismal record, the road for Lingard at United finally seems to end at the end of this season.
Lingard has hugely disappointed on the pitch, and his off the pitch antics including his social media handles, have irritated the fans. With the arrival of Bruno Fernandes, Jesse Lingard has been pushed further down the pecking order. His departure at the end of this season is imminent as the Englishman is now represented by the infamous Mino Raiola.
It is also reported that Lingard considers himself as one of the world’s best in his position. But, Solskjaer is having none of it anymore as he thinks very differently of Lingard, who has disappointed him, big time. Solskjaer will once again look to take the deadwood out of the club once, and Lingard is reportedly one of the first names.
It will be best for both the parties if Manchester United can offload Lingard in the summer transfer window. Raiola will look to sell his player to a club where he is valued at, and United will look to cash-in. Selling Lingard could get United a good amount of money and Lingard will also get a chance to rejuvenate his career.
Lingard has been linked with Italian clubs and has reportedly been in contact with former team-mates Lukaku and Young. Taking all the scenarios into account, it seems likely that Jesse Lingard’s days at Manchester United are numbered..
