Brighton & Hove Albion 0-3 Manchester United Match Report | EPL 2019/20

Manchester United FC thump three goals past Brighton and Hove Albion in the Amex Arena with a Fernandes brace. United scored a couple in the first half and the third goal came early in the second half. With this victory, United take their unbeaten run to a total of 15 games in all competitions.

The Red Devils looked great from the onset and dominated 69% of the possession in the first half. Manchester United put out the same starting lineup that started against Sheffield United and earned a similar score-line. Greenwood and Bruno Fernandes were in the score sheet, as United are on an eight-match unbeaten run in the league.

The Red Devils played very quick and attacking football as Brighton sat back and defended deep. Greenwood scored the first goal in the 16th minute, coming from the right-wing, getting past a couple of players and lashing in a shot. The goal was controversial because when Greenwood got the ball, it was already out of play.

The error was spotted later but VAR didn’t cut the goal off, as it happened 32 seconds after the ball went out. The second goal was scored by Bruno and assisted by Pogba, Bruno’s shot was deflected as it went past the goalkeeper. The third goal was a sweeping counter-attack at the start of the second half, with Bruno volleying in a great finish.

The Red Devils moved the ball very well throughout the first 60 minutes against a stout defence. At the hour-mark, Solskjaer took off Bruno, Pogba, and Shaw as the job was done and the players needed some rest. Once these three came off, Brighton started attacking more and had a couple of chances.

De Gea has been heavily criticized because of his recent form but came up with a couple of good saves. This was his second clean sheet in a row, and the defence looked stable for the entire match. Towards the end of the match, Rashford and Martial were also rested making way for Dan James and Odion Ighalo.

Andres Pereira and Dan James did little to impress and James squandered a couple of chances to score. It was a regulation victory for United as they look forward to playing Bournemouth at Old Trafford next.
