Everton looking to sign Jesse Lingard

Manchester United FC academy graduate Jesse Lingard is reportedly on the road at the end of this season. Since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes, in January, Lingard has found game time difficult to come by. Lingard has seen himself go own the pecking order and might move on with interest from West Ham and Everton.

In the pandemic scenario, United are looking to sell the deadwood to generate funds for recruits and Lingard might be axed. Lingard has been at the club for the entirety of his life, starting from boyhood when he joined the academy. But lately, the 27-year old attacking midfielder might move on elsewhere in search of game time.

West Ham and Everton have been struggling for goals this season in the Premier League and are looking for an attacking midfielder. Though Lingard hasn’t got a goal this season in the Premier League, still he regards himself as one of the best. But United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn’t think so and wants Lingard to move on, having coached him in the academy.

West Ham, who are managed by former United manager David Moyes, were reportedly interested in Lingard if they survive relegation. And now, even Everton are reportedly in the lookout of a Premier League proven attacking midfielder to bolster their attack. Everton find themselves stranded in the middle of the Premier League table but Carlo Ancelotti is determined for European success.

Manchester United could do with the sale of Lingard, as he has been of little help for the club this season. He has played for the Red Devils 20 times this season in the Premier League but hasn’t had a single goal contribution.  This season, Jesse has featured in 36 games in total and has scored only twice with two more assists.

Everton have been uncanny in the market for the past couple of years, where they have spent a lot of money on mediocre players. Lingard might be tempted to move on to Merseyside, in search of game time and rejuvenation of his career. The Red Devils will be happy to cash-in on Lingard and it might just be the right time to do it.
