Inter Milan want Martial for Skriniar – Swap deal possible?

Manchester United FC are reportedly looking for a world-class centre-back this transfer window, to partner Harry Maguire. The Red Devils are looking at a host of players like Kalidou Koulibaly, Milan Skriniar and Nathan Ake to complete Maguire’s centre-back pairing. Earlier this week, United bid £58m for Milan Skriniar, but Inter want Martial instead, to let United get Skriniar’s services.

Anthony Martial has had his best season ever this season, as he has scored 21 goals in all competitions. In doing so, he has also become the 10th player to score 50 goals for the Red Devils. Martial has scored 16 goals in the Premier League this season, after taking back his old No.9 jersey as well as position.

No one ever had a doubt about his dribbling or finishing, because of his mesmeric dribbler and clinical finishing in front of goal. But it was his work-rate and hold-up play that had brought him a lot of criticism. Martial’s work-rate and hold-up play this season in the Premier League has been second to none in the United side and have silenced his haters.

His performances have impressed Inter Milan boss, Antonio Conte, and he wants the Frenchman to join Inter Milan this summer. With Milan Skriniar seeking a move to Old Trafford, Conte wants to use his defender to get the services of Martial. Skriniar hasn’t been able to cope with Conte’s three-man defence system and has fallen down the pecking order.

The Red Devils are looking at Skriniar to partner Maguire in the centre-back positions to bring glory back to Old Trafford. United have been defensively tight this season but will need someone better than Lindelof to win titles. Skriniar’s qualities include his pace, tackling and accurate passing, all of which will complement that of Maguire’s qualities.

The Martial-Skriniar swap looks highly unlikely though, as the Frenchman is keen to stay and become a legend at Old Trafford. But it is likely for United to secure the services of Milan Skriniar, as the Slovakian wants to move on from Milan. With only 10 weeks in the transfer window, only time will tell who the Red Devils will get this summer.
