Manchester United FC are in the summer market for a striker, especially with Champions League football next season for the club. The Red Devils have been linked with some great strikers to add to the already good strike-force at Old Trafford. It is now being reported that Raul Jimenez is on his way to Manchester United and a deal is soon to be announced.
Raul Jimenez plays in the Premier League for Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Mexico national side. The striker has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since the January transfer window for obvious reasons. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer likes Raul Jimenez and his qualities and has been vocal about it this season.
The board and Solskjaer have been keen to add to their strikers even after signing Ighalo on loan till January of next year. Solskjaer tried to sign the Mexican international in the January window, but Wolves priced him out of a move. Looking at his goalscoring prowess, Jimenez would be a perfect signing for the Red Devils this summer transfer window.
Jimenez has played all the 38 games this season for Wolves in the Premier League having scored 17 goals. His goals tally has been equal to that of what Martial and Rashford had this season in the league. In all competitions, Jimenez has played 53 games in which he has scored 26 goals and provided 10 assists for the Wolves.
The 29-year old is not from the age bracket of players Solskjaer is looking for but the club is keen on signing him. Wolves will surely put a huge price tag for their talismanic striker looking at their successful season in the Premier League. Earlier it was reported that Wolves could set a tag of up to £90m for Jimenez this transfer window.
It is also reported that Wolves are already lining up Jimenez’s replacement which adds fuel to the fire. The Red Devils are surely looking for another striker this transfer window to provide more depth and quality to their squad. With more than two months left in the transfer window, only time will tell if Jimenez becomes a United player.
