It has been a season to forget for Portuguese youngster Diogo Dalot who has seen game-time hard to come by at Old Trafford. Dalot was signed by Jose Mourinho and was labelled as the next Gary Neville of Manchester United. Dalot has been overshadowed by Wan Bisakka for most of the season and is now out with injury, because of which he missed yesterday’s match.
Solskjaer fielded a weakened side against LASK last night, giving rest to the big guns of United. Diogo Dalot would have certainly been in contention to start the game at right-back if he was available. But Dalot reportedly has a thigh injury which kept him out of training for the entire week, keeping him out of the match-day squad.
The 21-year old right-back has featured in only 11 games for the Red Devils this season. Many believe that Dalot’s time at Old Trafford is done and he might be looking for a move elsewhere. The Portuguese lad has shockingly drawn attention from Barcelona who also tried to sign him while he was at Porto.
Dalot might be sold this summer to generate funds for recruits this transfer window. With time by his side, Dalot might still reach the potential he once showed he possessed.
