A long wait for Manchester United to sign top target Frenkie De Jong

The Frenkie De Jong deal is getting more and more exasperating as the days pass by. Nothing seems to be 100% sure. As reported by David Orstein and Fabrizio Romano the deal has been sealed for a fee of €75m+€10m add- ons, but the final stage of this blistering transfer and being announced as a Mancunian depends totally on the player. Tragically, Barcelona owe Frenkie a total of €17m ever since he joined the club on 23 January 2019.

This €17m fee which is due is making the decision on a stand still. If this deal goes through it would be the perfect player that can suit the new Ten Hag apparatus. We all had a perfect picture of De Jong under Ten Hag and how perfect they both were. At some point, it looked as if they both were made for each other. This reunion could be beneficial for Manchester as De Jong’s involved in that shaky and nervous United defence will surely tighten things up there. What makes this transfer a very lengthy one is the fact that De Jong loves Barcelona. His agent Ali Dursun on the other hand, is constantly addressing both the clubs in a very delusional manner. Malacia who recently joined the Red Devils have the same agents despite creating a very uncertain situation with the board managers.

However, Manchester United are ready to pay all the wage demands that the player wants excluding the huge bonuses that he’ll be receiving as mentioned in the contract. To look at it from another point of view, nothing so strange has happened so far in United’s transfer window. Either the club rejects it or gives the green light or it’s the player doing the same. But by strange we mean to say that even though a lot of negotiations and meetings took place between the two interested parties and the demands were accepted, the player is still reluctant to join. On the other hand, De Jong is not willing to accept a wage cut despite knowing Barcelona’s financial condition at the moment.

Who wants a wage cut at this stage of their playing career? Certainly, no one does! What De Jong demands is absolutely fine and makes sense but knowing the fact that the clubs’ hands are tied due to financial fair play imposed by La Liga and then constantly insisting to increase the wages doesn’t look like a wise postulation at all. United is desperate for a player like Frenkie.

The way United have established their morale grounds for the Dutchman is completely marvellous. It is without a doubt that De Jong would be starter for United as no one at the moment is as good as him in that position. It would be too harsh to not give credits to our very own Fred who has been phenomenal the previous season. With his addition, it is likely to create a competition which will hence lead to better potential from the players.

Just like a bar magnet where the opposite poles attract each other, similarly, it’s Ten Hag who is in fact playing a major role in getting Frenkie De Jong to join our wounded ally. It is without a doubt that his involvement in this squad which will go through an “open heart surgery” as mentioned by our new manager when he took over this job, would surely give the player a whole new complexion. Premier League is a stage where it tests each and every individual irrespective of whether it’s the player or the coach or it’s the medical staff.

With the addition of Eriksen on a free transfer from Brentford, United are indeed making a staunch move to establish their high playing standards as it was completely out of sight the last season. Eriksen seems to be the perfect replacement for Paul Pogba meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez from Ajax is another player who is expected to sign his contract and be a part of the under-construction United team.
