Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan BIssaka has pulled out of the England squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers with a back injury.
The 21-year-old defender was called up by England manager Gareth Southgate for the first time in his career following a solid start to his Manchester United career, has returned to his club for treatment and will not be taking part for his national side.
There will be no more replacements added to the Three Lions’ squad as they already have Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kieran Trippier available as back up for the right-back slot
News of Wan-Bissaka’s injury will concern United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of United’s Premier League clash with Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City at Old Trafford on September 14 as he will hope to have the young defender available for the game.
Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot are already out injured and Matteo Darmian left for Parma before the transfer deadline last week, while Timothy Fosu-Mensah has not recovered fully from a knee surgery that was carried out in April.
It could mean that Ashley Young and Marcos Rojo are Solskjaer’s only obvious options in the full-back positions.
Wan-Bissaka has impressed for United since joining from London side Crystal Palace in a reported £50million deal, despite results having been mixed for the Red Devils during the opening four games of the new season.
A 4-0 win against fierce rivals Chelsea on the first weekend was followed by a 1-1 draw at Wolves and then a 2-1 home loss to Crystal Palace and last weekend United suffered a second 1-1 draw at St Mary’s against a 10-man Southampton.
