Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has described fellow full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the “best one-v-one defender in the world”
The English right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka completed a £50 million move to Old Trafford from south London club Crystal Palace in June, following an impressive final season at Selhurst Park.
Despite being just 22 years of age, Wan-Bissaka has established himself as one of the most consistent players in the English top division during his two-year spell with the Eagles and that has also allowed him to make a move to one of the biggest clubs in the world in Manchester United.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed that Wan-Bissaka has been one of the first names on the team sheet throughout the season as the right-back has racked up a staggering 34 appearances across all competitions enjoying a fruitful debut campaign.
Due to Wan-Bissaka’s no-nonsense defending, the Red Devils have transformed into a much more solid defensive outfit once again following a number of years in mediocrity. And Wan-Bissaka’s teammate Luke Shaw believes that the spider has already mastered the art of stopping attacking players from getting past him.
While speaking to the club’s official website, the 24-year-old Luke Shaw heaped praise on Wan-Bissaka insisting that the youngster has been one of the most consistent players for the Red Devils this season remembering only one mistake against the Hornets, “I can’t look past Aaron Wan-Bissaka. For me, he’s been the most consistent player this season, If you look back at all the games we played, I can remember only one mistake, for the penalty at Watford, and that has literally been it.”
Shaw further explained that Wan-Bissaka has been able to put his foot in at the right time and moment while putting in a tackle hailing him the best defender when it comes to one-v-one situations and the right-back remains keen to learn more each day, “He has been a solid eight out of ten in every other game he’s played, never puts a foot wrong, puts his foot in the right position every time and, for me, he’s the best one-v-one defender in the world. No-one can get past him, he’s really improved that side of his game and his attacking side too. You can see Azza is learning each day and wanting to learn more too. He’s been a superb signing for us, so I have to have him in there.”
