Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s Champions League ban has been extended

As reported by SkySports, Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s Champions League ban has been extended for two matches by UEFA’s disciplinary panel.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka received a straight red card against BSC Young Boys on their first group stage match. He made a strong tackle and in the process brought down Christopher Martins Pereira. The referee didn’t think twice and handed a red card straight away.

Manchester United couldn’t cope up with this loss and went on to lose the match against BSC Young Boys by a 2-1 scoreline.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer was later asked about his views on the potential red card decision and he said:

“I can understand why he gives it. Aaron is normally a very astute tackler, one of the best in the world, but he takes a touch that goes too far. It’s never a dangerous tackle because he hits him in the front of his foot. We saw with Harvey Elliot that you sometimes can see bad injuries, but it was never reckless or malicious. Maybe inexperience to go through without the ball, but the boy wasn’t going to be injured. And it makes it different after that with 10 men.”

The UEFA has since decided that Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be banned for two matches. That means, he is certain to miss the group stage clash against Villarreal and Atalanta.

It could be a big loss to Manchester United, considering that the right-back has been crucial for Manchester United in big games.
