Adrien Rabiot under United’s radar

Manchester United FC have a thin squad, especially when it comes to the defensive midfield, and will be looking to strengthen the position. The Red Devils are reportedly looking at a few players who they can get this transfer window. United will reportedly try to lure in Adrien Rabiot from Juventus to add depth and quality to their defensive midfield position.

Rabiot moved from PSG to Juventus last summer having ditched a move to Old Trafford but has found game time hard to come by. The versatile French midfielder can play as a defensive midfielder as well as in a box-to-box role. The 25-year old French international has good experience in his bag having played Champions League with PSG and Juventus now.

Rabiot joined Juventus last summer in a free transfer in search of better football and wages. But his move to the Turin club hasn’t exactly panned out the way he wanted it to, because of several reasons. The Frenchman didn’t settle under the system Sarri employed in his first days at Juventus but lately has adapted well.

The midfielder has appeared for Juventus 34 times this season overall and 26 times in the Italian Serie-A. Most of Rabiot’s appearances have been from the bench this season and he has scored only one goal for Juventus. Since the restart, Rabiot has been one of the best Juventus players, but he could still be surplus to needs at Turin.

With the pandemic scenario, Juventus won’t mind selling Rabiot, if a good bid comes in for the French midfielder. United are keen on solidifying their defensive midfield department as the only player they have in that position is Nemanja Matic. Matic doesn’t have age by his side as he is 31-years old and will need some replacing next season, if not this season.

It is reported that, with Champions League football, United might make a bid of about £30m for Rabiot. Juventus might be tempted to accept the bid as they themselves are reportedly looking for recruits this summer. With the summer transfer opening after one day, only time will tell if Rabiot will ever be a Red Devil.
