Manchester United’s top target Erik ten Hag is said to be concerned about taking the managerial position after the Red Devils suffered yet another dismal defeat this weekend.
The Red Devils, who are being led by interim manager Ralf Rangnick, were defeated 1-0 by relegation-threatened Everton, and it was yet another awful display, with Frank Lampard’s side creating more chances than us.
According to the Daily Mail, Ten Hag is still concerned about taking the United job, with the source speculating that the future of ageing players such as Cristiano Ronaldo could be a particular concern.
Ten Hag has a distinct style of play at Ajax, and Ronaldo would certainly not fit into his modern high-pressing method. Last summer, the Portugal international came to United for the second time, and his time at Old Trafford has not been pleasant.
Not only Ronaldo but numerous other players are still unfit to start for the team. The Dutch manager feels that a major overhaul is required and the support of the board is equally important to make it happen.
As things stand, the upcoming transfer window will be very crucial for the club and you will not be surprised to see many of our current players leaving the club in the coming months.
Manchester United currently appears unlikely to finish in the top four, and it may be for the best if such unwanted players depart to allow Ten Hag to make the significant changes he desires at the club.
