Alejandro Garnacho close to signing a new contract with Manchester United

According to the Spanish daily AS, Manchester United and Alejandro Garnacho have reached an agreement on a new long-term contract.

Under manager Erik ten Hag, the 18-year-old has had a strong first season, recording two goals and five assists from 22 games across all competitions.

Before the World Cup break, Garnacho’s goal at Fulham made headlines. More recently, he picked up the game-winning assist in the Manchester derby. According to recent reports, United are about to offer Garnacho a new contract that will last until June 2028. While there are still issues with image rights, it won’t be long until he gets a better contract.

The Argentine hardly appeared for United in the preseason games. He showed up late for a few team meetings and had a bad attitude. But now he has been able to improve himself.

After the thrilling victory at Fulham, Bruno Fernandes praised Garnacho, but the young player will need to be patient if he wants to start every game for the Red Devils.

Ten Hag does not want to give Garnacho frequent Premier League playing time. He has been ready to take him off the bench so that he will be motivated to play.

The Dutchman is the ideal coach to help Garnacho eventually develop into a player of the highest calibre. The fact that he is now on the verge of extending his stay should excite United supporters.

His signing of a new deal should end rumours that Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are interested in him.
