According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are negotiating a new contract with promising attacker Alejandro Garnacho.
The Argentine has advanced through the Red Devils’ academy after scoring 31 goals in 52 games, which helped him earn a Premier League debut.
Erik ten Hag chose the winger for their preseason trip to Thailand and Australia, but he didn’t play in any of the four games.
Although Garnacho caught the attention of the manager ahead of the Premier League opener against Brighton, Ten Hag did hand the 18-year-old the start against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
Garnacho’s future was updated by Romano, who earlier described the forward as a great talent. After receiving Ten Hag’s approval, he said that United was working on a new contract for the teenager.
Garnacho has shown promise as a future star and has excelled under Ten Hag, so it makes sense to commit to his long-term future.
The Argentine’s current contract expires in less than a year, which would suggest that, should his status remain the same, he might explore a pre-contract deal at another club.
Hopefully, the player’s destiny will be decided by then, but who knows? If Garnacho makes the most of any game time he receives over the next several months, his worth could grow even further between now and January.
