Alex Telles is unsure of his future at Manchester United

Manchester United left-back Alex Telles has admitted that he is unsure of where he will play after completing a season-long loan with La Liga outfit Sevilla next summer.

After falling behind Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in the pecking order earlier this summer, the Brazilian international became United’s third-choice left-back.

The fact that he was loaned to Sevilla for the current season came as no surprise. The 29-year-old starter is already an extra player for Sevilla.

Telles recently expressed his happiness at Sevilla, where he has grown a lot in confidence from regularly playing first-team games.  He continued by saying that, although he is ready to give it his all in Spain, he is unsure of where his future may lie.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, he said:

“I’m very happy in Sevilla. The club and the fans have given me a lot of confidence. I honestly don’t think about whether I can get injured before the World Cup. Of course, it can happen to every player.”

“But to get there I have to do my best at Sevilla. The club [Sevilla] and the fans have given me a lot of confidence. I will give my best here and I don’t know what will happen next year.”

Telles joined the Andalusian team at the beginning of the season as a substitute left-back option, but during the past month, he has routinely played more than 60 minutes across all competitions.

The former Porto player has made 13 appearances for Sevilla and has contributed two assists. He will be hoping to contribute more goals for the remainder of the season. If he can maintain his consistency, there is a significant chance that Sevilla will try to sign him to a long-term contract during the summer transfer window. If Telles keeps performing well, United will be looking to recuperate as much of the initial £13.6 million they spent on the signing back in 2020.

Telles has been a consistent player of the Brazilian national team since the start of this year and seems destined to make the 26-man World Cup roster.

In terms of putting a price tag on him, it should only help United in the long run if he can stand out with his performances in the important showpiece in Qatar.
