Alex Telles’s wonder goal nominated for Champions League award

As reported by the club’s official website, Manchester United left-back Alex Telles’s incredible volley against Villarreal has been nominated for the Champions League goal of the season award. His goal was a joy to watch and it certainly deserved recognition.

Telles had scored a sweet volley from a resulting corner taken by Bruno Fernandes. In the group stage match, Manchester United played Villarreal and was behind by a goal but Alex Telles had other plans. United made a strong comeback thanks to a second-half strike by the Brazilian.

The match ended with a 2-1 scoreline, as United grabbed all three points. However, the Red Devils failed to reach the quarterfinals, but Villarreal made an impressive run to the semi-finals.

Speaking to the club’s official website about that goal way back in December, Telles said:

“That was one of the most beautiful moments of my career, it’s a moment I will never forget. Firstly, because I was playing in a Champions League match for Manchester United, and secondly scoring a goal in that context.”

“We were behind, then we equalized, then turned the score around, it was a remarkable evening, an unforgettable evening. I share the merit of that goal with Bruno because that pass was his idea.”

Manchester United fans will not be able to witness those exciting Champions League matches at Old Trafford next season. The club has been pushed to the Europa League due to their poor performances in the Premier League.

They also collected the lowest points in the history of the club. The upcoming season will be crucial for the new manager Erik ten Hag.

He has a lot of work to do from the very first day and it has been provided by the fact that the manager has preferred to omit his holidays in favor of training with the squad. His very first step towards the new era will start from the ongoing transfer window.
