Alexis Sanchez’s future in a Manchester United FC shirt remains uncertain for now with the Chilean winger set to extend his stay at Inter Milan FC beyond 30th June due to league football being played beyond July after football was suspended globally because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is sceptical about recalling Sanchez following the expiry of his loan at San Siro, with the Manchester United FC coach wanting to give greater chances to academy youngers like Marcus Greenwood from next season onwards.
However, Sanchez’s future at Inter Milan seems uncertain itself as the former Arsenal star has not been a great player for the Italian giants.
Following a horrid spell in a Red Devils shirt since signing for Manchester United FC in a swap deal from Arsenal, Sanchez was offloaded on a season-long loan to Inter Milan and joined up with his former teammate Romelu Lukaku at the San Siro. While in Italy, Sanchez has not had the most impactful of spells which would convince Inter Milan to sign him permanently in the summer.
A series of successive injuries suffered by Sanchez has adversely affected the minutes he has managed to get under his belt on the football pitch for Inter Milan.
The Nerazzurri are paying a sum of £100,000 per week as their contribution towards Sanchez’s wage of £350,000 per week, which the player had accepted to earn while signing the contract with the Red Devils. The 31-year old Sanchez has managed to make himself worthy towards the Nerazzurri, unlike Manchester United FC teammate Ashley Young, who joined the Italian side earlier this year. Young’s superb performances have led to Inter Milan triggering a one-year contract extension for the former English international.
If Sanchez does return to Old Trafford, it is believed that Solskjaer would be keen on using the Chilean international as a backup option in the Manchester United FC squad.
Although he has not impressed the Red Devils supporters or the management of the Premier League side, Sanchez is a great player when he is able to recapture his form and has plenty of experience of playing in the Premier League.
