Despite Manchester United’s interest, Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder says he intends to keep Jurrien Timber and Antony in Amsterdam for the upcoming campaign.
Prior to the 2022–23 season, Manchester United hired Schreuder’s predecessor, Erik ten Hag, and has since been linked with a number of Ajax players.
Jurrien Timber is one of them, but Schreuder is certain he will be able to rely on the center-back ahead of the upcoming season. Brazilian winger Antony of Ajax has also been mentioned in connection with a transfer to United.
The 22-year-old Brazil international scored 12 goals in all competitions for Ten Hag’s title-winning Ajax team last season. He has been their standout performer and former Club Brugge manager Schreuder is eager to keep his best players.
As reported by Manchester Evening News, Alfred Schreuder said:
“I have spoken with Jurrien and I am assuming he is staying at Ajax. Timber is a smart guy and he knows what is best for himself. We don’t think he is done at Ajax yet.”
“We want to keep Antony at Ajax. I want to work with him, and the club knows this.”

Although Manchester United has been in negotiations with Barcelona for weeks to sign midfielder Frenkie de Jong, they have yet to complete a deal this summer.
After a terribly disappointing 2021/22 season in which they finished sixth in the Premier League without taking home any titles, significant changes are expected at Old Trafford this summer.
Chelsea might provide competition for former Ajax centre-back, Matthijs de Ligt of Juventus, who has recently been linked to United.
