Alvaro Fernandes spotted in training as he gets promoted to Manchester United first team

In September 2020, Manchester United clinched an up-and-coming prospect from Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Come September 2021, he is soon to make his debut at Old Trafford with the first team playing the position of a promising left-back.

After his acquirement, Alvaro Fernandes Carreras’ impressive development with The Red Devils was testament enough for him to be chosen to take the next steps and make his mark among the first-team players.

The club’s Twitter handle displayed the youngster’s training session with his teammates including Cristiano Ronaldo himself, who will soon be making his second debut for the English club in the upcoming game against Newcastle United. Fernandes shared a post of himself on Instagram in close proximity with Ronaldo which implies that the youngster has had the honor of getting acquainted with the Portuguese man.

Fernandes commenced his career with Galician-based, Spanish club, Deportivo de La Coruna. He paved his way forward by joining Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2017.

In 2020, the now 18-year-old chose the play with The Red Devils and quickly progressed through the club’s ladder, being promoted from the Under-18 team to the Under-23 team.

Using his left foot to work his way through the pitch, he has scored 2 goals against the Chelsea and Man City U-23 teams and performed one assist in a fixture with the Leicester City U-23 team last month.

His former side, Los Blancos, describes him as a ‘quality defender’ and says that he is ‘good at taking the ball from behind.’
