As reported by the club’s official website, Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has been nominated for the Championship’s Young Player of the Year award for his vital contributions to Sunderland.
The 20-year-old moved to Sunderland in August of last year on a season-long loan. Amad has had a fantastic season with the Black Cats after a shaky start to the season.
He has scored 11 goals and provided two assists in 22 league appearances this term. His contributions to Sunderland have been crucial, and the Football League has now awarded him for his contributions.
Amad has been nominated along with Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney and Alex Scott of Bristol City. He was acquired by United from Atalanta in October 2020 for £19 million, with a potential increase to £37 million.
He was under pressure to perform at the Stadium of Lights after a lacklustre loan stint with the Rangers. Amad has been used as a striker, right winger, and number 10 by Sunderland manager Toy Mowbray. This demonstrates how adaptable he is. He has gained popularity among fans and received Mowbray’s praise on numerous occasions.
Amad has displayed glimmers of the magnificent skill that drove the Red Devils to pay a large transfer fee in order to sign him. It has been amazing to watch some of his goals and clever attacking tactics against the opposition.
Amad’s future with United’s first squad and Erik ten Hag’s preference for another loan transfer to another club are both still up in the air.
The Ivorian winger would want to work for Ten Hag next season because he is known for developing young talents.
