Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo has revealed the position he needs to play at Old Trafford.
Manchester United brought him for £37 million from Atlanta in January. In a half year of his stay at the Theater of Dreams, he has shown us a glimpse of the energizing ability he possesses. He scored a crucial goal for Manchester United in the Europa League encounter against AC Milan.
He was included in three games for United under-23s where he scored four goals and provided three assists. Even after a major cash move, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has used his players well.
Amad has extraordinary dribbling skills however he actually needs to muscle up to contend with Premier League defenders. He is an adaptable forward who can play at every attacking position. In any case, he reveals that he favors starting from the right flank as it offers him the chance to move inside the opponent’s box.
Amad Diallo told UTD Unscripted, “I play here like I played in Italy. Obviously, coaches set up teams in different ways but playing wide-right here, having freedom, having to attack and defend. In Italy, it is a case of go and attack but then defends and it is the same here. I see myself more as a wide-right player, but I have always said that, in football, you should never have a preferred position. Okay, perhaps you have a preference, but you should be ready for anything. I have played wide left, wide right, and I have played through the middle, so all of the positions are the same to me. If the coach tells me to play in a specific position, there will be a reason for that. I will not argue, I will just play in that position. If I really have to say a favorite position, I would say wide-right, because, from there, I can dribble and carry the ball deep into the opposition’s half. So I guess it is the position I like best, but I have to be ready for everything.”
Jadon Sancho could be signed by Manchester United this summer, which will add him to that role. With Marcus Rashford involving the left flank, Sancho will work as the right-winger. This raises concerns if Amad will see sufficient game-time at United to sharpen his abilities.
