Manchester United FC have always been linked to a host of good players in all positions irrespective of positions. The Red Devils have always had their sights on the best young and emerging players but have also missed some good players. In some shocking revelations by former scouts, United have missed the chance to sign the likes of Pulisic and Alphonso Davies.
United have been known to get the best out of young players with prime examples like Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Ronaldo. Sir Alex Ferguson has always emphasized the presence and grooming of young player at Old Trafford. United are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are very strong financially, making them a favourable destination.
Their scouting network is spread all across the world and was also regarded as one of the best in the Premier League. But sometimes the club hasn’t listened to their scouts and has missed out on a few gems. A former United scout has revealed that the Red Devils were told to sign Pulisic and Davies, but let the chance slip by.
Pulisic has been racking it up in the Premier League lately with Chelsea in his first season in England. The American international has grabbed the attention of many and is also touted as Eden Hazard’s replacement at Chelsea. The pacy winger has scored nine goals in the league this season and has also provided six assists and is only 21-years old.
On the other hand, Alphonso Davies has gone on to become one of the best left-backs in the world at Bayern Munich. Davies is also one of the fastest players in the world and has been creating a name for himself in Germany. The Canadian international was being looked at by Jose Mourinho, but the Portuguese manager took too long to respond.
Manchester United are in need of creativity and squad depth having acquired Champions League football for next season. With Pulisic and Davies in the side, United could’ve been a force to reckon with but they didn’t listen to their scouts. With no more hope to get any of both stars, United fans lament and think of what could have been.
