Andreas Pereira not for sale this summer

Manchester United FC have told Andreas Pereira that moving to another club is not an option for him this summer. The Brazilian hasn’t been featuring for the Red Devils lately, after Bruno Fernades’ arrival in January and was thought to move on. But the United have told his agent that he is not up for sale this window, and will stay.

The Brazilian returned from a loan spell in Spain and had played a few games for United last season. But this season, Pereira has featured heavily for the Red Devils at the beginning of the season. Sighting his versatility and lack of options, Solskjaer has played him in a post of positions, including the midfield and down the wings.

Andreas Pereira has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism because of his lack of creativity. The Brazilian has appeared 25 times for the Red Devils this season, scoring one goal and assisting three in the Premier League. The stats prove the criticism is right, and Andreas has not been creating a lot, even while playing in a creative position.

The Brazilian spent two consecutive seasons in Spain on-loan, with Granada and Valencia respectively. In La Liga, Pereira was a bright spark and most played on the left side of the midfield-three or in the No.10 position.  He was called back to Old Trafford having proven that he was ready for top-flight football in England.

The 24-year old Brazilian international played well at the beginning of the season, having featured on the right-wing position. But as the season progressed, he was used as an attacking midfielder, in a three-man defence system, by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He was full of running and the system suited him, but his lack of creativity on the ball saw him lose his place.

The Red Devils are looking to sell several players to generate funds for recruits at the end of the season. But Pereira will not be sacrificed this summer transfer and will be given a chance to prove himself worthy. Next season will be very important for Pereira’s career, as he has been given assurance for another season at Old Trafford.
