Andreas Pereira reveals the secret of Marcus Rashford’s recent performances

Former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira believes that Erik ten Hag’s confidence in Marcus Rashford is what has caused the striker’s dramatic turn around in performance.

This season, Rashford’s confidence has been restored under the new boss. The striker had a difficult year last time around, finishing with his fewest goals since he started playing regularly for the first squad.

But, he has made a strong comeback this time and, with 26 goals, has already eclipsed his previous highest tally for a single campaign. Rashford has grown to be a crucial member of Ten Hag’s continually improving team with nine assists as well.

Pereira, who permanently left Old Trafford in the summer after spending ten years with the squad, has described the change in his former teammate.

As reported by ESPN, he said:

“I’ve known Marcus for a very, very long time. He’s a great guy and I think the difference this season is the manager has shown a lot of faith in him and given him a lot of confidence, just letting him play his game. That’s what he’s doing.”

“He’s showing what he can do on the pitch, he’s free of injuries and he’s enjoying every moment, You can see that in the way he plays. For us, it’s something not good but we have to try to deal with that.”

Rashford has been a sensation under the Dutch boss this term. He has been in fine form since the World Cup and it looks like he will score 30+ goals before the end of the campaign.

The English star was on scoresheet against Real Betis and will be a favourite to score against his next opponents. Meanwhile, Pereira will be visiting Old Trafford on Sunday as Fulham prepare to face Ten Hag’s side in a crunch FA Cup clash.
