Former Manchester United u-23 captain, Angel Gomes has finally signed for a club after leaving United in June. The youngster is a graduate for United’s academy and has been at the club since the beginning of his footballing days. United wanted Gomes to stay at Old Trafford, but the Englishman wanted to move elsewhere in search of proper game-time.
The 19-year old has found minutes hard to come by for a couple of seasons now after making his debut in 2016. Gomes is a respected player in the u-23 circuit and is known for his silky touch and piercing passes. But because of his small height and lack of physicality, Solskjaer wasn’t sure about fielding Gomes in the Premier League.
In his last days at Manchester United, Gomes was offered a new contract but the youngster denied signing it. The midfielder was reportedly unhappy about United showing interest in signing players of his age group and position. The growth of Greenwood and Williams also didn’t help Gomes’ confidence, who was ultimately released by United by the end of June.
After a month of being without a contract, Gomes has been finally signed by Lille, who could immediately loan him out to Boavista. Following his signing of a new contract, the English prodigy has sent an emotional message thanking the United fans.
