Anthony Martial agrees deal in principle to join Sevilla

Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial has agreed on a deal in principle to join Sevilla, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

At Old Trafford, the French international has fallen short of his promise. He’s slid down the pecking order in recent months and is now looking for a move to get more playing time.

Martial has only appeared in 10 games this season, scoring one goal. His efforts haven’t been good enough to earn him more playing time. There are other players ahead of him in the pecking order at the club, so cashing in may be the wisest option.

Despite his declining status, the 26-year-old has drawn interest from clubs such as Juventus and Barcelona. Sevilla, on the other hand, appears to have won the race to sign him.

As of now, Martial has agreed to join the La Liga team next month. Sevilla appears to have a clear path ahead of them, with Juventus looking elsewhere and Barcelona agreeing to sign Ferran Torres.

Martial’s Old Trafford contract runs until 2024, allowing the Red Devils to involve in discussions. It’s unclear whether he’ll join Sevilla on a six-month loan before signing a permanent deal next summer.

Martial, who is currently recovering from an injury, is yet to make an appearance under new manager Ralf Rangnick. With January approaching, it will be interesting to see if he has played his final game for Manchester United.

Rangnick admires Martial, but he has already identified Anthony Elanga as a capable substitute if he leaves next month. Last night, Elanga signed a contract extension, adding to the situation’s complexity.
