Star players Casemiro and Antony have performed admirably since joining Manchester United from Real Madrid and Ajax, respectively, over the summer.
Despite the fact that both players entered after the season had already started, they nearly immediately won over fans’ hearts.
Since joining the team, Antony has started every Premier League game, and earlier this month, the 22-year-old United player became the first to score in each of his first three league appearances. Since Casemiro started the previous four games, he has become virtually unstoppable, particularly in light of his outstanding performance against Chelsea last week, which resulted in the equaliser being scored in the 94th minute.
They appear to have formed excellent understandings with their teammates on the field, but surprisingly they do not yet speak English.
Speaking before Thursday’s game against FC Sheriff, they discussed the language barrier they had faced since moving to England and insisted they will continue to learn to improve their English.
While speaking to the club’s official website, Antony said:
“Firstly, I’m really happy to be wearing such an important shirt and sharing the day-to-day in the dressing room with great players and other Brazilians as well.
“I’m going to start studying English. I can understand things and will get there little by little. The most important thing now is being on the pitch and doing well.”
Casemiro also replied with a similar statement saying:
“With the basics, we can manage on the pitch. I think, in football, it’s the ball. The ball does the talking. The most important thing is our team-mates and adapting here at the club.”
Although it is common for former players to need some time to adjust to a new league, and it’s possible that the language barrier contributes to that, none of these players has shown any signs of struggling thus far.
The football speaks, and both players are exceptional at what they do. Additionally, United is fortunate to have a large number of bilingual players and coaches in their squad.
With time, both the players will be speaking fluent English which can help them to communicate easily.
