Antony will be available for selection against Galatasaray confirms Erik ten Hag

Antony has returned to team training following his four-week suspension, and there’s a possibility that the Brazilian might feature in the starting lineup against Galatasaray.

He could potentially join Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, and Rasmus Hojlund in a four-man attacking formation.

Erik ten Hag has stated that the Brazilian is in contention for Tuesday’s Champions League group stage match against Galatasaray.

The team is set to host the Turkish champions at Old Trafford tomorrow, with the goal of bouncing back from their recent 1-0 Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace.

Prior to the upcoming match, the manager has revealed that the winger is a potential candidate for the game, having recently resumed team training on the previous day. A final decision will be made following today’s last training session.

While talking to MUTV, he said:

“Antony will be in consideration but yesterday was his first time back in team training. We have a final training, then we’ll make a decision.”

In Antony’s absence, Ten Hag has been trying out different attacking strategies. For instance, we’ve witnessed Bruno Fernandes being deployed on the right wing in a few instances.

However, Fernandes is most effective in the central number 10 position. With Antony’s return, the manager now has the opportunity to select his preferred attacking lineup for the match against Galatasaray tomorrow.

Ten Hag’s top choices for the attack are Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Antony, and Rasmus Hojlund. This presents the chance for him to finally field this quartet together in the starting lineup.

Antony has faced challenges at the beginning of his second season, but he represents an improvement over Facundo Pellistri.

While Alejandro Garnacho has been pushing for more consistent starting opportunities, he might end up as a substitute since both he and Rashford prefer the left-wing position.

Rashford has been experiencing a dip in form since the international break, but Manager Ten Hag expressed confidence in his ability to regain his rhythm after the unexpected loss to Palace over the weekend.
