Manchester United target Lisandro Martinez is attracting a lot of interest from Arsenal this summer.
The Argentine international has been pursued by the Gunners for a long time, but they will need to fend off interest from the Red Evils, who are clearly at an advantage because they are led by the player’s former Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag.
However, Arsenal is still a contender for this business. The Athletic reports that Arsenal will meet with Ajax next week to discuss a deal to sign Martinez after United made a firm offer of €40 million and a possible additional offer of €5 million for the centre-back.
According to the article, Martinez is viewed differently by United than Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof. Arsenal are ready to offer more but everything will depend on the centre-back’s decision.
Martinez appears eager to move to England this summer, and it is stated that Ajax would not stand in the player’s way if a bid comes in from the Premier League.
Hopefully, the situation is resolved quickly so that Martinez can join Manchester United before they depart for Thailand to begin our preseason tour. It would be incredibly upsetting if Arsenal managed to get him before we did this summer.
Ten Hag has already been successful in sealing the transfer of Tyrell Malacia and Frenkie De Jong could soon follow suit.
