Manchester United started the game well and it was a pretty open affair but a superb save from leno early on denied the visitors from taking the lead.
The match was played in a very exciting fashion, and both teams were able to carve out some decent chances, but the proper finishing product was what was lacking throughout the match.
Ole’s team have just gained one point from a possible six in their last two encounters following the defeat to the Blades and at this rate, their title aspirations will only slip away further as Manchester City shows no signs of slowing down.
MATCH PROCEEDINGS
The match started with a good tempo as chances were coming at frequent intervals. The Arsenal keeper was kept busy throughout the first half as Manchester United were creating some decent chances at regular intervals.
Leno had to pull off a spectacular save to deny Fred from scoring and things seemed to catch on from there as Manchester United ended the half strongly with a string of good chances. Rashford was also presented with a great chance but could not capitalize on it.
The second half saw the home side get more involved in the game as Willian came and had an impact from the left-wing. He also missed quite a good chance at the beginning of the second half.
Emile Smith Rowe was also providing some serious threat and the lad is one for the future. The best chance of the game came when Arsenal got a freekick right on the edge of the penalty area in the 65th minute. Lacazette took the freekick and rattled the crossbar. That was the closest any of the teams had come to get a winner. Arsenal got into their stride and created some meaningful chances towards the end of the game.
Even though Manchester United had more chances, Arsenal did have the best one of the game and a 0-0 result seems like an apt result even though the fans would have liked more goals and action.
