Aston Villa vs Manchester United: Player Ratings

Manchester United took on Aston Villa at Villa Park with the hopes of securing a maximum number of points on the road.

The Red Devils got off to a flying start, taking the lead in the sixth minute thanks to a Bruno Fernandes strike. Ralf Rangnick’s team held on to their lead well in the first half, leading 1-0 at the break.

In the 67th minute, Fernandes scored his second goal for Man United, a powerful finish finding the back of the net. However, just ten minutes later, Jacob Ramsey equalized for the Villans, before Philippe Coutinho equalized with a beautiful finish from close range.

The game finished in a 2-2 draw at Villa Park, with the Villians coming out on top.

Let’s take a look at how each Manchester United player played against the Villans:

David de Gea (GK) – 7/10

The Spaniard came up with a few key saves to keep his team in the game. He made a good clearance as well, but his passing was terrible.

Diogo Dalot (RB) – 6.5/10

For the most part, Dalot protected the penalty box well and created two solid chances in the final third.

Victor Lindelof (CB) – 6.5/10

He came up with many last-ditch saves and did enough to keep the Villans from scoring more than twice.

Raphael Varane (CB) – 6.5/10

When needed, the French defender cleared the danger and won the ball back for his team on a couple of occasions.

Alex Telles (LB) – 7/10

The Brazilian left-back had a few nervous moments at the back and was pretty energetic going forward. Telles has earned a point for his efforts.

Fred (CM) – 7/10

The Brazilian sensation put in a lot of effort on both ends of the field and completed the game with an assist.

At times, Matic’s lack of speed was exploited. Despite this, he put on a battling performance for United. The club needs to play a more energetic player at this position.

Mason Greenwood (RW) – 6.5/10

He had a few good runs with the ball, but he didn’t capitalize on any of his chances in front of the opposing goal.

Bruno Fernandes – 8/10 CAM

During the game, Fernandes scored twice for Man United, taking advantage of two errors. In the second half, he ran out of gas and had to be replaced.

Anthony Elanga (LW) – 7/10

Edison Cavani (ST) – 5/10
