Atletico Madrid show interests in signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer

According to Marca, Atletico Madrid is interested in signing Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and is keeping an eye on his status at Old Trafford.

Last summer, Ronaldo returned to Manchester United after securing a deal from Juventus. On a personal level, the 37-year-old veteran had a good season, but the same cannot be said for the Red Devils, who tripped and faltered to their worst-ever Premier League points total.

Ronaldo is looking to leave Manchester United this summer due to the lack of Champions League football for the upcoming season and the sluggish start to the transfer window.

The captain of Portugal has informed the team that he wishes to go, and his agent Jorge Mendes has already begun to shop him around to prestigious clubs throughout Europe.

As things stand, Ronaldo doesn’t appear to have any buyers. PSG, Bayern Munich, and other teams have turned down the chance to sign him, and Chelsea has also given up on the striker after unexpectedly expressing interest in him.

An unknown Saudi Arabian club has made Ronaldo a staggering offer of a deal worth £2 million per week. The Portuguese have, however, turned down the offer as he still looking for a team where he can play Champions League games.

Atletico Madrid has chosen to monitor Ronaldo’s current position at Old Trafford because his future is unknown. Given his past with Real Madrid, it is difficult to imagine the 37-year-old signing on with Los Rojiblancos. Indeed, the 37-year-old has a long-standing rivalry with Atleti.

Despite this, Diego Simeone’s team is keeping an eye on Ronaldo’s situation as he only has one year left on his contract. Antoine Griezmann is struggling, and Alvaro Morata is on the verge of leaving Atletico Madrid, so the Spanish club needs someone to take Luis Suarez’s place.

It remains to be seen where these rumours will be heading into.
