Barcelona could sell United target Frenkie de Jong after recent transfer ban

According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona is not permitted to sign any players this summer until they have raised a total of £177 million.

Barcelona has experienced financial difficulties for a number of seasons and has frequently had to activate various economic levels.

According to several sources, they are reportedly carrying a debt of almost £1 billion and have been told that they must raise nearly £200 million this summer before they can participate in the transfer market.

This is probably good news for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United, who could be able to use the situation to facilitate Frenkie de Jong’s transfer to the club.

De Jong was the subject of a transfer agreement between United and Barcelona last summer for a reported value of roughly £75 million, but the deal never materialised because De Jong preferred to remain with the Catalan club.

It was believed that Barcelona owed the Dutchman £17 million in unpaid salaries as one explanation for this. According to rumours, Erik ten Hag plans to try again to sign his former star player this summer.

Frenkie de Jong played superbly in both legs and demonstrated to United why they needed to buy him. Also, it has been said that De Jong would love the idea of playing alongside Casemiro next season.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Blaugrana decides to part ways with one of their fan-favourite player this summer.
