The latest reports have claimed that La Liga champions Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester United center-back Victor Lindelof in the summer transfer window to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
Manchester United suffered a horrendous campaign last season as they finished in sixth place in the Premier League table and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has his work cut out considering what he needs to do to bring the Red Devils back to the summit of English football.
There were only a few bright and shining lights from last season and one of them was center-back Victor Lindelof after the Swede put in some incredible performances which forced Solskjaer to start him whenever he was available. The versatile defender made 40 appearances for United across all competitions but with his impressive outings, there were other clubs which will show interest in his services.
La Liga giants Barcelona are keen on winning the elusive Champions League title and La Blaugrana wants to snap up a top-class central defender to reinforce their squad. Lindelof fits that bill and Barcelona have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old Manchester United star this summer.
United splashed around €35 million for Lindelof’s services from Portuguese outfit Benfica back in 2017 and he still has two years remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford. Solskjaer has made it quite clear that he is not willing to sell Lindelof but with the lack of trophies and ambition at Manchester United, Lindelof would realize that the opportunity to play for Barcelona comes once in a lifetime.
