According to the Sun, Manchester United are linked with a move for RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko but they have to pay their high asking price in order to sign him.
The 19-year-old is available for £55m but that would be a significant price for a player with not enough experience.
As Cristiano Ronaldo is set to leave Old Trafford, the club is focused on Sesko to bolster their attack. Last season, the RB Leipzig striker made an impression and caught the interest of top teams. The Slovenian international scored 11 goals in 37 games for his club at the age of just 19.
The forward’s ability to score goals and height of well over six feet should make him a challenge for Premier League defenders. The teenager may have a lot of opportunities to flourish in the future because Erik ten Hag’s team lacks choices up front, particularly in the event that Ronaldo leaves.
Most people knew going into pre-season that the 13-time Premier League champions would need to significantly improve if they wanted to compete with the best clubs in England.
That hasn’t happened thus far because the Frenkie de Jong transfer issue has dragged out and only resulted in the signings of Christian Erikson, Tyrell Malacia, and Lisandro Martinez.
De Jong and Sesko’s signings would help solve their squad issues and give Ten Hag a realistic chance to compete for Champions League football during his debut season in Manchester.
It will be interesting to watch if the board decides to pay Sesko’s asking price or not.
