Bill Foulkes joined Manchester Unites as a professional in the year 1951 after being a trainee for a year at the club. He played his first debut match for the club in the year 1952 against Liverpool. Foulkes was a part of the club under the reign of Matt Busby and proved to be an incredible asset as he set the foundation for the defence. He is best known for his aggressive tackling skills which proved to be a nuisance for many of the attackers that played against them.

Foulkes survived the Munich air disaster and went on to become the captain of the club after the tragedy. Under his captain-ship, Manchester United lifted their first-ever European Cup. Bill Foulkes stands third in the highest number of matches played by any player at Old Trafford. He played a total of 688 matches for the club and scored 9 goals during his career at Manchester United. Gary Pallister took a transfer to Manchester United in the year 1989 from Middlesbrough. He played his debut match for the club in the same year against Norwich City.
