Big blow for United as Bayern Munich hold positive talks with Kim Min-jae’s agent

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United’s pursuit of Napoli defender Kim Min-jae has suffered a major setback as Bayern Munich has now entered negotiations with the player’s agents.

The Bundesliga champions have recently joined the race to sign the centre-back, and the center-back’s cheaper release clause is not an issue for them.

Bayern has prepared a salary package of €10 million for Min-jae and discussions are currently taking place regarding the agent fee.

Although Man United and Newcastle are still in contention for the 26-year-old’s signature, Bayern Munich is now leading the race for his services.

The Red Devils consider the Napoli defender their top priority for strengthening the central defensive position. Talks have already been held with the player’s representatives.

However, it remains uncertain whether the club will have sufficient funds available when Min-jae’s release clause of €60 million becomes active next month.

The primary focus for United in the summer transfer window is to acquire a marquee striker, and it is expected that they will prioritize investments in that position before considering a move for the South Korean star.

Hence, United’s pursuit of Kim Min-jae is at risk as Bayern Munich has joined the race and is displaying a growing confidence in signing the player, as indicated by their negotiations over the agent fee.

Min-jae is highly regarded and would be a valuable addition to any top European club. He excels in ball control, boasting an impressive 91 per cent pass completion rate last season.

Additionally, his tackling, clearances, and aerial presence in the box are noteworthy. It would be a significant setback for United if they were to miss out on him due to financial constraints.
