Blow for Man United as Chelsea reach agreement with Moises Caicedo

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have reached an agreement on personal terms with Manchester United target Moises Caicedo.

However, to secure the player’s transfer to Stamford Bridge, they still need to negotiate a fee with Brighton. Earlier reports stated that Chelsea had their initial bid of £60 million turned down by Brighton, who are said to be demanding a fee exceeding £80 million for Caicedo.

The Blues are now expected to intensify their discussions to try and finalize the deal. Brighton has a reputation for being tough negotiators and are unlikely to change their valuation in the deal for Caicedo.

Chelsea’s pursuit of the Ecuadorian midfielder comes as they have experienced significant player movement in their squad.

N’Golo Kante has already completed a move to Al-Ittihad, while Mateo Kovacic is nearing an exit to Manchester City, and Mason Mount is expected to join Man United in the summer.

Chelsea had been aiming to secure Caicedo’s signing for a fee exceeding £80 million. The Blues intend to pair him with Enzo Fernandez, their record signing, ahead of the upcoming season.

Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly already engaged in discussions regarding potential new signings for the upcoming season. The discussions indicate that the manager is actively involved in planning the team’s transfer strategy even before taking charge at the club.

However, this recent development comes as a blow for Man United since they were considering making a move for Caicedo if in case they fail to land Mount.

The Red Devils would now need to look for alternative targets in the market as they are already searching for another midfielder to bolster their squad.
