Blow for Manchester United as Real Madrid enter race to sign Harry Kane

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United may face a setback as Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has shown a keen interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane during the upcoming summer transfer window.

United has been widely reported to prioritize Kane as their primary target, but now they could face competition from Madrid.

Despite Karim Benzema’s long-standing role as the preferred striker for Los Blancos, Ancelotti is seeking an ideal partner to challenge the Ballon d’Or winner for the upcoming season.

Ancelotti sees Kane as his preferred choice, considering the English striker’s experience and believes that the 29-year-old could provide an immediate impact while maintaining a high level of performance over several seasons.

As of now, Tottenham has not made a decision regarding Kane’s future, but they might be compelled to allow his sale this summer due to his contract expiring at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Kane has had an exceptional season with Tottenham Hotspur, contributing 28 goals and three assists in 37 appearances in the Premier League. However, despite his individual success, Spurs have failed to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.

They could miss out on European football unless Aston Villa drops points in their upcoming match. Given the circumstances, it wouldn’t be surprising if Kane decides to leave Tottenham.

The club values him at £100 million, which seems reasonable considering his consistent improvement over the years. Both United and Real Madrid, who will be competing in the Champions League next season, could be interested in signing Kane.

However, Spurs may prefer to do business with Madrid rather than negotiate with a direct league rival. Nevertheless, United still has a chance in the race to sign Kane.

The striker currently has 211 Premier League goals and may have the ambition to surpass Alan Shearer’s all-time record of 260 goals in the league. This could motivate him to extend his stay in the Premier League.

United, being a more competitive team at the top level, would offer Kane the opportunity to add trophies to his collection.

Under Erik Ten Hag, the Red Devils have made significant progress this season and could become genuine contenders for the Premier League title if Kane leads their frontline in the next campaign.
