Boost for United as Gavi and Pedri are set to miss Barcelona’s second leg match

As reported by the Metro, Manchester United’s chances of winning the second leg against Barcelona have significantly increased as Gavi and Pedri are set to miss the away match at Old Trafford.

The fans at La Camp Nou were treated to a classic, high-intensity match between Manchester United and Barcelona that ended 2-2.

Next week, the Spanish powerhouses will go to Old Trafford to take on United in the second leg of this Europa League play-off.

At the Theater of Dreams, United have been defeated only twice this season, and Barcelona will be trying to break that streak. Due to the absence of starlet Gavi in the lineup, their chances of pulling off this feat have grown more slim.

In the previous Champions League matches, the 18-year-old received a yellow card against Inter Milan and Viktoria Plzen.

He received his third caution of the European competition after he grabbed Fred’s shirt to thwart a counterattack by United.

Pedri, who was forced to leave the game in the 40th minute due to injury, will also be a concern for Xavi.

Barcelona stated that Pedri injured his thigh and would undergo tests to evaluate the extent of the damage. Both of these players have been essential to Barcelona’s comeback under Xavi.

If Pedri is ruled out for Barca’s matchup next week, the coach will have a lot of issues with his squad selection.

Due to an injury, Sergio Busquets was also unable to play tonight, although he may rejoin the team for the return leg.
