Borja Iglesias sends clear message to United ahead of the Europa League tie

Real Betis striker Borja Iglesias has revealed that his team is confident that they would overcome Manchester United in the Europa League round of 16 ties.

The Red Devils advanced to the round of 16 of the competition with an incredible 4-3 overall victory over Barcelona, and they will now take on another Spanish opponent.

As reported by Marca, Iglesias stated that he is “extremely confident” to take on the Red Devils, even if Betis are now barely outside of the La Liga Champions League spots.

“If you want to win the competition you have to eliminate whoever you face. I am very excited. (Man Utd are) a historic club, and have a beautiful stadium. We are confident.”

Nabil Fekir’s catastrophic injury has dealt the Seville team a big setback, but Iglesias maintains that Betis remain ‘confident’ going into the European match.

Although Betis tasted victory at home in a winter-friendly between the two teams in December of last year, United hasn’t faced them in a major cup competition. Fekir scored the lone goal in the last clash between the two sides.

United’s World Cup stars were evidently absent at the time, but given their current form and high level of confidence among their players, they ought to favourite this time.

United has been the king of the comeback since falling behind in a number of games.  In order to win, the Red Devils must take advantage of the home field. The tie might be broken with a two or three-goal advantage.

Prior to Betis’ arrival, United will face Liverpool in a key Premier League match on Sunday. Currently, United trails league leaders Arsenal by 11 points with one game in hand.

If Arsenal defeats Bournemouth at home on Saturday, the deficit might grow to 14 points. Thus, United’s trip to Anfield on Sunday is crucial in the quest to win the Premier League title.
