Manchester United midfielder Fred has said that he misses his Brazilian teammate and ‘great friend’ Alex Telles, who is presently playing on loan for Spanish club Sevilla.
Telles was acquired by United for €20 million from Porto on deadline day in October 2020. Last season, the Brazilian made 22 starts but was unable to fix his place in the starting XI.
The arrival of fellow left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord practically marked the end of his time at Old Trafford, despite the fact that he was under contract to the team through 2024, with an additional year option.
In the summer transfer window, the Brazilian signed a season-long loan with the La Liga outfit. He has played seven times for Julen Lopetegui’s team thus far, but he has only started three games.
The 29-year-old was a member of the Brazil team that travelled to France for their forthcoming friendlies. As a result, he has reunited with United teammates Fred, Antony, and Casemiro. While speaking to the club’s official website, Fred expressed his joy to play with Telles. He said:
“We’ve got two games with the Brazilian Selecao. Alex and I will be reunited. He’s a great friend. I miss him and I hope he’s happy in Seville. It’s always good to catch up with friends with the national team, representing your country. I hope we do well.”
Brazil is one of the favourites to win the World Cup in Qatar, and the United midfielder is confident that his country will advance to higher stages.
After the international break, Telles will play his next club game against Atletico Madrid, while Fred will gear himself up to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on October 2.
