Manchester United play Brentford this weekend in Gtech Community Stadium. Manchester United started off their campaign with a 1-2 defeat against Brighton.
Erik Ten Hag on the other hand, didn’t expect to start his reign with a defeat. Manchester United is expected to change the formation yet again and see what the results will be.
The last time these two teams faced in this stadium, United won the game with a 1-3 score line. Brentford started off their new campaign with a draw against Leicester City. Goals from the danger man, Ivan Toney and a late equaliser in the 86th minute by J. Dasilva helped them gain a point. Meanwhile, United had a poor performance on an opening day. With Anthony Martial being ruled out of the squad due to injury, it looks as if Erik might hand over the role to Ronaldo once again. Rashford and Sancho who had a poor performance against Brighton is also expected to start.
The defence seems to be needing a bit of tuning as well. It’s high time when Varane and Lisandro Martinez duo is needed at the heart of the United defence. De Gea is the obvious answer to have his spot in the starting XI. Brentford has a very potential squad that can pose a serious threat to any team in the Premier League. Ivan Toney, Josh Dasilva and Sergi Canos are just brilliant in front of the goal. If United leaves any loopholes in the defensive area, then we can make sure that United would again lose the crucial points and end up fighting for the top four spots.
With the departure of Paul Pogba, Eriksen seems to be a perfect fit once again to take that spot just like he did against Brighton. He came immensely close to score his debut goal. Bruno Fernandes and Eriksen had a good duet as the passes from both these players showered the United strikers and wingers. United always seems to have a much relaxed game when it comes to playing against Brentford. Brentford were promoted to the Premier League for the first time last season and ever since we faced them, United ended up scoring three goals in both the fixtures.
Brentford’s defence isn’t that strong by the likes of Pontus Jansson, Kristoffer Ajer, Ben Mee and Rico Henry. This leaves their defense vulnerable to our great set of attackers and wingers. Jadon Sancho can cause serious damage to the opposition half by his great dribbling ability followed by Rashford’s lightning pace. Ronaldo can find the correct space in that shaky defence of Brentford and score from a dead ball situation as he always does.
It is without a doubt Brentford will put on a tough show against United on Saturday as they came back from behind every time they conceded against Leicester on opening day.

With such a poor performance against Brighton the hopes are fading away since the very start of the campaign. Ronaldo if given the opportunity to start this fixture is very much expected to score along with Eriksen opening his scoring book for United. Brentford’s only threat will be Ivan Toney who possesses a great deal of power and pace to penetrate through that shaky United defence.
