Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi makes United claim after Sevilla loss

According to Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi, Manchester United is “one of the best teams in the country” despite their defeat to Sevilla. The Seagulls will play against Erik Ten Hag’s side in the FA Cup semi-final clash on Sunday.

United’s chances of winning all three major cups this year were shattered by a devastating 3-0 Europa League loss in Spain. By overcoming Brighton, they will attempt to make amends and get to the FA Cup final for the first time since 2018.

De Zerbi admitted that he was focusing on what his team can achieve ahead of the match rather than any accusations that Erik ten Hag’s team would let the Sevilla loss could affect their performance this weekend.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the Brighton manager said:

“For sure Sevilla played a great, great game. And Sevilla, like United, is a big team in Europe. I think the best solution is to be focused on ourselves, what we can do and what we have to do win the game, respecting the opponent.”

“Man United is one of the best teams in the UK but I think we are deserving to play this type of game in this competition.”

De Zerbi’s side would provide a tough test to United as they aim to play in their first FA Cup final since losing 4-0 to the Reds in 1983.

Erik ten Hag’s side will travel to north London after losing to Sevilla in the Europa League quarterfinals. However, United cannot afford to be sloppy once again.

The Premier League’s seventh-placed team are no easy opponent and they can’t be written off. The FA Cup is on the line, and a big response is needed.
