Brighton ready to target Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho

According to the Manchester Evening News, Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly making preparations to make a bid for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.

The Seagulls are willing to break their club record transfer fee and offer £45 million for the English international’s services. Currently, Joao Pedro holds Brighton’s most expensive signing record, having been recently acquired from Watford.

Brighton is showing urgency in strengthening their squad for the upcoming season, as they prepare to compete in the Europa League under manager Roberto De Zerbi.

In line with this, the club has already initiated inquiries about the availability of Sancho ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Over the past two seasons, frustrations among supporters have grown regarding the 23-year-old player. Man United acquired the English winger from Borussia Dortmund during the summer of 2021.

During his time in Germany, the forward showcased his talent and built a strong reputation. However, since his move to Manchester, he has struggled to replicate that same level of performance.

Sancho’s first season with the club was disappointing, but there were hopes that the arrival of Erik ten Hag as the manager would turn things around for the English player. Initially, it seemed like the change in leadership had a positive impact on Sancho’s form.

Despite a promising beginning to the 2022/23 season, the winger’s performance became inconsistent once again. Furthermore, he experienced a significant period of absence due to injury.

Brighton has earned a reputation in recent years for signing relatively unknown players and nurturing them into prominent stars.

Pursuing Sancho looks like an unusual approach, as he is already an established and well-known talent. United’s stance regarding the Englishman’s future remains uncertain.

Despite his inconsistencies, the 23-year-old has demonstrated his talent, and given the substantial investment made in him, it would be wise to keep hold of the winger for a longer period.
