Bruno Fernandes has been the saving grace for Manchester United as he has come and brought that hunger and willingness to give it his all for the club but there was a period when he was contemplating on quitting altogether.
The midfielder began his career really early at the age of 17 where he moved to Italy. He got extremely homesick there and wanted to leave but he credits his ‘extreme personality’ for the reason he did not quit.
“I needed the mentality to survive.” He told the Players Tribune as he worked every day to hone his skill and that has eventually brought him to one of the most prestigious clubs in footballing history.
Not only is he a part of Manchester United but an important piece and catalyst into their sudden resurgence to form after having an inconsistent period in the last few years.
Bruno Fernandes had to go to a country where he knew no one and fight the odds at an age when most people are not sure about what they want to do in life and one can only imagine how hard it must have been on him.
Bruno Fernandes also shed light on the fact that it was his father who instilled an elite mentality in him and also attributes it as one of the reasons that he survived despite all of his early troubles.
Fernandes came back to his homeland where he made heads turn with his stellar performances at Sporting Lisbon and it wasn’t long before a big club would be knocking on the door to avail of his services. Fernandes has kept up his performances throughout and also admitted that he was emotionally overwhelmed when he came to know that he was going to Manchester United.
