Bruno Fernandes shared a message of farewell following the confirmation that Donny van de Beek will be leaving Old Trafford for La Liga club Girona.
Dutch midfielder leaves the Red Devils to end an unsatisfying four-year spell at Old Trafford.
Van de Beek transferred to Manchester United from Ajax in 2020 for £35 million but offered little in return, thanks to his 62 appearances for the club.
His transfer to Girona worth in advance £420,000 and possibly rising to £12.7 million sees him become the first major departure under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s management.
Bruno Fernandes—having joined Manchester United some months ahead of Van de Beek quickly responded with a rather short but very personal message to his departing on-field companion:
“You deserve the best”, which he embellished with a red heart emoji.

This feeling of brotherhood and respect for one another is fostered by such two players, despite the wretched performances that Van de Beek turned in on the pitch.
Van de Beek wrote on Instagram: “I would like to thank the Manchester United community for having me.
Dear Man United family, it’s time for me to say goodbye to this great journey at the club. I thank you all for your love during these years.
Since the arrival at Manchester United, I feel extremely welcome and I am grateful for that.
Thanks to all at the club who made me feel at home. Special thanks to all fans who have made these years unforgettable.
Manchester will always bear a special place in my heart. Good luck to everybody, we’ll meet again.”
A lot of his former colleagues replied to Van de Beek’s leaving.
Young Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo stated a heart emoji, which was also posted by Davvy Klaassen, who also played for Ajax and Everton.
Former Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah posted: “A series of heart emojis in reply.”.
Even though his time spent at Manchester United probably didn’t go the way he planned, this is something that did, off the pitch, and key relationships have been hailed in light of Van de Beek joining Girona.
Colleague messages of support underline respect and admiration earned by the Dutchman during his time in Manchester.
