Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes could be in line to miss the forthcoming Atletico Madrid clash following him contracting COVID-19.
Ralf Ragnick’s men take on the Spanish champions Atletico in the second leg of the Champions League Last 16 tie with the reverse fixture finishing in a 1-1 stalemate for both teams.
Fernandes has been one of the top performers of late at Old Trafford but the Portugal international faces a race against time in order to prove his fitness to the boss Ragnick who remained coy over the player’s availability, claims a report from The Guardian.
“I don’t know.
“With Scotty, I hope so but he had some muscular problems with his calf. That’s why we decided not to play him [against Spurs], because Scotty, quite like Fred, is only valuable if he can perform with 100% of his physical capacity.
“Luke hopefully will be back in training Monday and Bruno we will have to wait and see until Tuesday. This will probably be a last-minute race with him – due to Covid.”
The Red Devils last squared up against North Londoners Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League action over the weekend with Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat trick proving decisive to clinch the three points up for grabs.
United are backed to make a serious push for the top four berth in the standings with the likes of Arsenal, West Ham and Spurs battling it with the Old Trafford heavyweights.
