Bruno Fernandes faces suspension after receiving yellow card against Sevilla

After receiving a yellow card, Manchester United star midfielder Bruno Fernandes won’t play in the second leg of the quarterfinal match against Sevilla next week.

As per the Daily Express, Fernandes needed to stay clean in today’s game, but he received an absurd yellow card for a handball, excluding him from the critical second-leg match.

He moved towards the perimeter of the penalty area to block a shot, but the ball struck his arm from dead centre. There was no motion to block the ball; his hand was in a natural position.

The Red Devils were on their way to a victory but Sevilla’s late comeback and United’s own errors handed them a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

If United had won the match, Fernandes’ suspension wouldn’t have been a huge concern. Erik ten Hag will need to find a replacement for the Portuguese maestro.

It will be challenging for United to travel to Spain and defeat a team with a strong record in this competition, with the draw titled in Sevilla’s favour. Ten Hag replaced Fernandes at the hour mark because he thought the referee could give him another card.

The Portuguese player brought calmness and balance to the pitch. He achieved the milestone of 50 assists for United by helping Marcel Sabitzer score his first goal. This demonstrates Fernandes’ enormous contribution to the team over the last three years.

On Sunday, the Red Devils will travel to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest in their return to Premier League football.
