Bruno Fernandes: I took a risk by missing so many passes

Bruno Fernandes has talked about the risky style of play that he tried against Atalanta. Although Manchester United won the match by their miraculous second-half performance, it was a completely different scenario in the first half of the match.

A lot of misplaced places, the inability of the players to find their teammates, unable to close the spaces, and many other faults in the first half were noted. The Portuguese playmaker had his role to play in the first half but was unable to pick the right places like the way he always does.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, he said:

“It was one of them you have to take a risk sometimes, sometimes I don’t take as many risks as I did in the first half when I missed many passes, but I have to try because I have to find my strikers. Sometimes I know the pass is difficult or the chance to get in is not quite there, but I want to respect the movement of my strikers. I [made] the mistakes but give my best to help my teammates score goals. We trust our best to give chances to our strikers.”

Man United through a very spirited performance was able to create a constant threat from the very first minute of the second-half and deserved the goals. Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, and Cristiano Ronaldo were the goalscorers of the night, but there is one player whose stats speaks about his growing influence in the match.

Although the first half didn’t go as he expected, the second half had a really different story to tell. He created the most chances by any Manchester United player in a single Champions League since 2003-04. He laid down eight chances and that is simply exceptional by the Portuguese.

He was also the provider of the Marcus Rashford goal. His presence can simply turn any game upside down and even though he had some misplaced passes, he still managed to create so many chances.

He received the man of the match against Atalanta and he rightly deserved it.
